Sign on white paper, photograph or scan it, and this page returns a PNG where the paper is gone. You can then place the signature on a PDF, a letter or a document template.
The tool uses a general background-removal model, not a dedicated signature model, so results depend on the photo. A dark pen on clean white paper in even light works best. Very thin or pale strokes can be partly lost; zoom in and check before you use it.
How to use Remove Background from Signature
- Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper and take a flat, well-lit photo (or scan it).
- Drop the PNG, JPG or WebP file (up to 10 MB) on the box.
- Background is Transparent, Format is PNG and Quality is HD already. Press Remove background.
- Download the PNG and place it in your document or PDF editor.

Getting a clean capture
Place the paper flat on a table near a window, hold the phone directly above it and avoid shadows from your hand. Crop close to the signature before uploading to give the model more detail to work with.
Frequently asked questions
Is a digital signature made this way legally valid?
That depends on the document and your country. An image of a signature is not a certified electronic signature, so check what the recipient or the law requires.
Why are some strokes missing or faded?
Thin, light or shaky lines can be treated as background. Use a darker, thicker pen, photograph in even light and try the tool again.
Should I upload a signature of someone else?
Only use signatures you are entitled to use. Do not upload other people’s signatures without permission.
Can I change the ink colour?
Not in this tool. The strokes keep the colour of the original; change it in an image editor if needed.
Are my photos kept?
Only long enough for you to download the result. Files are deleted automatically after 24 hours, and you can remove them sooner with the Delete now button. We do not log image content or train models on uploads.
