HEIC to JPG Converter
Processed in your browser. Your files are never uploaded and metadata such as GPS location is removed.
iPhones and some Android phones save photos as HEIC, a compact format that many Windows programs, websites and email services still cannot open. This tool turns HEIC and HEIF files into ordinary JPG images that work almost everywhere.
The conversion happens inside your browser. Your photos are not uploaded, so it is safe for private pictures and fast even on a slow connection. You can convert one photo or a whole batch.
How to use HEIC to JPG Converter
- Drop your HEIC or HEIF files onto the box or choose them from your device. You can select many at once.
- Set the JPG quality. 90 is a good balance of size and sharpness; lower values give smaller files.
- Press Convert to JPG. Each file shows its own status and the size before and after.
- Download single files, or use Download all as ZIP to get everything in one archive.
Features
Conversion runs in your browser tab. Your files are never sent to a server, so there is nothing to delete later.
Re-encoding through a canvas drops EXIF data such as GPS location and camera details, which is handy before sharing photos.
Add many files at once, see the status of each one, download them individually or all together in a ZIP.
Choose how much compression to apply with a simple slider.
Runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile.
Why HEIC photos do not open everywhere
HEIC uses video-compression technology that needs a licensed decoder. Apple devices include one, but many other programs do not, so a photo that looks fine on your phone may fail to attach, upload or preview elsewhere.
Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens in every editor, website form and printing service. You can keep the original HEIC files if you want the smaller size for storage.
Decoder licence note
HEIC decoding uses the heic2any library (MIT) which bundles libheif (LGPL), loaded as a separate script in your browser only when needed.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the container used by the High Efficiency Image Format. It stores photos at roughly half the size of a JPG with similar quality, which is why recent iPhones use it by default.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. We cannot see your files and nothing is sent over the network, which also means the tool keeps working if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
Will I lose quality when converting to JPG?
JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of detail is lost. At quality 90 or higher the difference is hard to see. If you need no loss at all, use HEIC to PNG instead.
Why does the first conversion take a moment?
The HEIC decoder is a sizeable piece of code. It is downloaded only when you choose a HEIC file, then kept by your browser for next time.
Are Live Photos and depth data kept?
No. You get a single still image. Motion, depth maps and other extra data in the original file are not carried over.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no upload limit because nothing is uploaded. Very large batches are limited only by your device memory, so convert in smaller groups if the tab slows down.
