Take a screenshot, paste it here with Ctrl+V and get the text back as plain text you can select and copy. It is the quick way to lift a quote, an error message or a table of words out of an image you cannot copy from.
It uses the same OCR engine as our image to text tool. Clean, high-contrast screenshots read well; tiny text, unusual fonts and busy backgrounds make mistakes, so read the result before you use it.

Features
Ctrl+V on the page uploads the screenshot from your clipboard.
Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Arabic and Devanagari text are supported.
Choose plain text with a Copy button, or a searchable PDF.
Images are deleted after 24 hours and never used to train a model.
Making text easier to read
If the result has errors, enlarge a small screenshot first with the image upscaler, then run OCR again. Cropping to just the text area also helps.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text always correct?
No. OCR makes mistakes on small, blurry or stylised text, and with similar characters such as 0 and O. Always proofread.
Does it keep tables and layout?
It returns text in reading order. Table structure and columns are not rebuilt, so tables may need tidying.
Can I read text from a screenshot of a PDF or a scan?
Yes, as long as the screenshot is clear. The tool also accepts PDF files directly.
How do I take better screenshots for OCR?
Zoom the page in before capturing so letters are larger, and avoid dark mode with low contrast if the result is poor.
Are my photos kept?
Only long enough for you to download the result. Files are deleted automatically after 24 hours, and you can remove them sooner with the Delete now button. We do not log image content or train models on uploads.
