Designing for small screens
Put the primary action where a thumb reaches, near the bottom, and keep a single main action per screen. Use at least 16 point body text and strong contrast so the app stays readable outdoors.
Frequently asked questions
What screen sizes should I design for?
390 by 844 points is a common modern iPhone size and 360 by 800 a common Android size. Keep touch targets at least 44 points high on iPhone (48 on Android) and leave room for the status bar at the top and the home indicator at the bottom.
Can I export for App Store screenshots?
You can export PNGs at 2x or 3x of the frame. Stores ask for specific pixel sizes, so set a custom frame to those dimensions or resize the export with our resize tool.
Does it generate app code?
No. It exports images and, for web previews, HTML and CSS positions. It is a design sketch tool, not an app builder.
Is my design uploaded or stored on your server?
No. The editor runs in your browser and your design is autosaved on your own device only. Images you add are not uploaded. Clearing site data removes the autosave, so use Save file to keep a copy.
